The Weekly Update 1/31/2025
Release and Catch!
As a youngster growing up on a feed lot outside of Fort Shaw, Montana, fly fishing was a fun hobby. Of course, we would keep a few to fry but for the most part it was “catch and release”.
Today Elon Musk’s SpaceX does the opposite! They release rockets with satellites on-board for delivery to our atmosphere and then they catch the booster back at the Starship launch pad a short time later.
Check it out:

Pretty cool, especially when you consider this booster is the size of a 24 story office building! Wow!
For our media, well, meh! No interest! Too busy reporting hyped up bologna like China’s DeepSeek A.I. app on 1/27/2025. Our tech sector got rattled because China, who is still a Communist country, known for telling lies bigger than Pinocchio, had released that DeepSeek A.I. app, took two months to develop, cost $6 million dollars and is 90%+ cheaper than U.S. models.
Sure! Of course, none of that is a fib!
Brad Cooke, CFP is our newest office family member, so he was picked to sign up for the service.
To sign up you must enter all of the key personal information plus payment sources, account numbers, etc. Once it was obvious, Brad was about to “share it all” on an app from a lab in China that is only allowed on China based phone numbers, he cleared it all and went about his day.
There couldn’t be any small, medium or large company who would entrust this sensitive data to a lab in China when they have the best of the best in America at maybe a slight premium.
Focus on the graphic above not the bologna below it! If the press isn’t covering it, it is probably good, and good news!
I am interested in your thoughts, comments, and observations. Feel welcome to call, email, or stop by the office and say Hi.
Respectfully,
James O. Lunney, CFP®
