The Weekly Update 3/20/2026™
The Lie of Omission!
Of all the news sources I browse, not one presented a chart of data like the one below.

Why?
It is likely because it tells the observer, plain as day, that we don’t need the oil we used to need.
In my opinion, a very large percentage, if not 99.99% of journalist coverage, has been lying by omission, i.e., intentionally withholding important information to create a false perception of what is happening in the oil industry. By omitting facts like this the news manipulates the readers’ perception of reality.
So, here are a few independent, source cited, quantifiable facts:
- The U.S. uses less oil per dollar of economic output than in past decades, so oil price spikes have a smaller impact on overall growth than they did in the 1970s–80s.
- The U.S. has become a net exporter of petroleum products (we export more than we import per the chart above), which provides a buffer against global energy shocks compared with many peers.
- Oil would likely need to stay elevated for weeks and potentially rise toward $140+ per barrel to materially alter the outlook.
Based on the facts, and price increases, we have chosen to greatly reduce, or sell out of all energy positions, depending on the client. Those will be profitable sells, and the proceeds are in the process of being reallocated to other investments that appear to be undervalued. Here at the Wealth Strategies Group, we still expect 2026 to be a positive results year.
I did not say market valuations go straight up, and I did not say without volatility, yet the data flow suggests the good old USA has a very bright outlook. Think “Five Year Money” (Read it Here).
As always, I am interested in your thoughts, comments, and questions.
