“Don’t Sell in May or Go Away!”

My bottom line: equities remain in an uptrend as long as oil stays roughly within $5 to $10 of current levels ($105 to $110 per barrel). A more severe oil shock would challenge that view. The economy is resilient, earnings are strong, AI remains a dominant secular force, and the Fed will wait until June before making any meaningful interest rate policy signal. Markets have absorbed a great deal of uncertainty already and the evidence still points to strength rather than fragility.

That old saying of “sell in May and go away” is qualifiable blather!

Take a look at this.

Nine out of ten years are positive.  The one exception was 2022- and if you remember that year, everything was down.  The average return across those ten summers?

As my favorite dead economist, Marty Zweig, used to say; “The Trend is Your Friend”!!

I did not say market valuations go straight up, and I did not say without volatility, yet the data flow suggests the good old USA has a very bright outlook.
