The Weekly Update 7/4/2025™

Written by Brittany Jarocki CFP, (Jim's business partner, daughter and the succession plan Jim hopes he never needs).

Since the beginning of time there has been scary events in the world, negative news, and people who think the sky is falling. However, we are exposed to it even more now than ever through technology and the never-ending access to headlines and screens that bombard our everyday lives. It is difficult to escape all of the noise.

Even with all the distractions going on in the world, innovation doesn’t stop. It never has. In fact, each breakthrough is happening at a faster pace than the ones before it and the impact is compounding, as you can visualize on the chart above.

And funny enough, with each new innovation, the naysayers do their best to say that it won’t work or that the particular innovation is going to ruin life as we know it. Sure, it may change life as we know it, but ruin? Not even close.

Remember when the World Wide Web was introduced in 1995? There were an enormous number of people who thought it was ridiculous, and it would never be used or adopted. Now imagine living without the internet today.

AI and Quantum Computing are the “scariest” new development with people terrified that robots will take too many human jobs, that kids won’t learn how to write cursive, that driverless cars will get into too many accidents.

We also don’t use hieroglyphics to write anymore and that turned out to be a massive time saver.

The point is, even with all of the scary events that are going on in the world, innovation powers on. And even if we think innovation is scary, history shows that it does more good than harm in our world.

What a time to be alive!
