In addition to the Three Contrarian Indicators I presented in The Weekly Update for 5/27/2022 (Read it here), I have more to add below:
Clearly these measurements of investor fear suggest the air is thick with it!
For all the angst, what really happened in May?
After the valuations of Corporate America, as measured by the S&P 500, jumped up +3% on May 4, 2022, it dropped 4% two weeks later.
Year to date, we also witnessed the S&P 500 dropping a touch over 20% since the January 2022 high. Volatility for sure.
As for May 2022, the S&P 500 was flat as a pancake at +.20%.
Volatility is scary, for sure. The anecdote is time and patience. Time smooths out volatility and patience is required when implementing long-term plans to attain our bigger financial future.
If you don’t have a plan for your bigger financial future, call us and we will create one with you. Without a bigger financial future plan, you are less likely to have a bigger financial future.
I’m interested in your thoughts, comments and observations. Feel welcome to call, email or stop by the office and say Hi.
